Civil Defense

They arrive first, they work in collapsed buildings, and almost no aid is directed to them.

Why this community

Civil Defense crews are essential to rescue operations and are among the most neglected groups in Gaza. They arrive first, they work in collapsed buildings, and they do it with equipment that is failing or destroyed. Very little assistance is directed to the rescuers themselves.

What we do

We partner with the Palestinian Civil Defense on joint projects, including reinforcement of tents in the displacement camps, which is work their crews and ours carry out together. We provide assistance to the crews themselves, and we run an ongoing project to repair the Civil Defense’s ambulances.

What this makes possible

A repaired ambulance is not a one-time delivery. It is a vehicle that keeps reaching people for as long as it runs.

Nothing we do happens without people who decide to help. If you can give, give. If you can’t, share the work.
