Privacy Policy
What this website collects, what we do with it, and who else can see it. The short version: almost nothing, and nobody.
Who we are
Project Hope for Palestine is a volunteer-run non-profit headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, working with communities across the Gaza Strip. This policy covers the website at this address. It does not cover other sites we link to, including our Instagram account or any third-party donation platform.
If you want to reach a person about anything in this policy, write to projecthopepalestine@proton.me.
What this site collects
Nothing, unless you send it. This website runs no analytics, no advertising tags, and no third-party tracking scripts. We do not build a profile of you, and we have no way to recognise you when you come back.
If you use the contact form we receive the name, email address, subject and message you type into it, so that we can reply. That is the whole purpose; we do not add you to a mailing list from it.
Server logs. Like any website, the server that hosts this site records requests — the page asked for, the time, the browser, and the IP address that asked. These logs exist so the site can be kept running and secure, and they are not used to identify individual visitors.
Cookies
This site sets no tracking or advertising cookies. WordPress sets a small number of functional cookies only if you leave a comment or log in to the administration area, neither of which applies to ordinary visitors.
Donations
Donations are made through Venmo, at @Project-HopePalestine. They are not processed by this website: payment details are entered on Venmo’s own pages and never reach our server. What we can see is what Venmo shows any recipient — the sender’s Venmo name, the amount, and any note attached to the payment. Venmo’s handling of your data is governed by its own privacy policy, which you should read before giving.
If you write a program name in the payment note so that we can direct your gift, that note is visible to us and we use it for that purpose only.
[Fiscal sponsor to be named here before launch, together with the approved tax-deductibility wording.]
Who we share information with
We do not sell, rent or trade anything you send us. We do not share it with other organizations for their own use. The only parties who see it are the small number of our own volunteers who handle correspondence, our email provider, and our web host — and only to the extent needed to deliver the message and keep the site online.
We will disclose information if we are legally required to, and we will tell you if we are permitted to.
How long we keep it
Messages sent through the contact form are kept for as long as the conversation is useful and then deleted. Server logs are rotated by our host on their own schedule. If you would like us to delete something you sent, ask and we will.
Photographs
The photographs on this site were taken by our own teams in Gaza. We publish images of identifiable people, including children, only with the consent of the person or their family. If you appear in a photograph here and would like it removed, write to us and we will take it down — you do not need to give a reason.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to projecthopepalestine@proton.me and we will answer. Depending on where you live, you may have these rights in law; we extend them to everybody regardless.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will change the date below. There is no version of this site in which we quietly start tracking you.
